Double or splits

The God of this other planet decreed it thus
For why he reasoned should things come in ones
When they can so much better come in twos?
So it came to pass
There were not five but ten continents
Though six
According to Wikipedia
And therefore twelve -
Ten and not five oceans
Fourteen
And not seven wonders of the world…
