Army of Peeping Toms

If the wall was designed to keep the various enemies within, the record shows the apparatus of paranoia embodied in the activities of the secret police working under enormous strain. The meticulous documentation of suspects, the cold games of coercion, the planting of turncoats and double agents, the ongoing spying turned the defenders into a morbid army of Peeping Toms and Moral Relativists.

A smart arse student posited these questions:

Ergo - soft-centred Europeans?

To what extent could it be said that the wall was also located with the minds of those who lived in its shadow? Would the wall live on even after it was purported to have been taken down?

Sorry, Professor Horn was unavailable for comment here, as he had to leave for an important luncheon engagement. His colleague, Professor Hex also appears to be indisposed. However, the questions have been duly noted, and the professors will I am sure only be too happy to give their answers forthwith.
